And these lines are his father talking to him, asking his son why he’s rushing through life. In addition to that, I would like to add that Vienna was written by Billy Joel after he visited his father, who lived in Vienna. So it’s normal he sees himself as an older figure, compared to him - specifically, a father. And it makes sense, considering what we saw in the first part: Patton was the one who shaped the original Creativity (still an undefined ovum) by sharing his morals with it, thus leading to the development of Roman and Remus. It’s clear Patton doesn’t see Roman as an adult, but rather like a younger side, a child compared to him. Roman is Patton’s son, he’s an ambitious kid, always boiling, always in a hurry, like all children are.

These lines literally speak for themselves. You’d better cool it off before you burn it out Where’s the fire, what’s the hurry about? And what better way to start, then with the first child Patton figuratively gave birth to? Now we will take one step further and analyze the songs about Patton’s children. We saw the origin of every choice he made and how each of them made him go further down a completely different path, compared to Janus. In the first part (you can find it here) we learned more about Patton’s first years of life: his birth, childhood, adolescence. And there’s still a third part yet to come.

Who would’ve thought the dad side would be the one with the longest analysis? Definitely not me, but here we are in part 2. Welcome to the second part of Patton’s playlist analysis.
